Pskov State University

Pskov State University (PskovSU), established in 2011 by merger of the five leading institutions of professional education, provides training of specialists of higher education and secondary vocational education.

PskovSU is the centre of educational, cultural and scientific life of the region - the only subject of the Russian Federation bordering 3 states (Estonia, Latvia and Belarus), which is the main strategic centre in the field of cooperation with the European Union and the Baltic region countries.

The university features a well-developed infrastructure, including 22 academic buildings, 12 student dormitories, a student house, a swimming pool, and a medical and rehabilitation centre. The university structure includes 16 faculties and 65 departments, a college, a branch in Velikiye Luki, Lifelong Learning Institute.

Training is conducted on 179 educational programs, including 41 Bachelor’s programs, 9 Master’s programs, 3 specialties of higher education, 23 post-graduate programs and 19 specialties of secondary vocational education. Some of Master’s programs are implemented in English, including "Business in the Baltic Sea Region", "Intercultural Communication in International Project Activity" etc.

The research is carried out in 30 areas that belong to nine science branches: physical and mathematical, biological, technical, historical, economic, philological, pedagogical, psychological, and geosciences.

There are more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students studying in PskovSU, including about 400 international students from 18 countries, and about 500 students of the Lifelong Learning Institute.

Actively integrating into the global educational space, PskovSU is increasing domestic and international mobility of students and teachers; it has 66 cooperation agreements with foreign universities from 22 countries. Over the past five years PskovSU has implemented more than 30 large-scale international projects, among which "EuroFaculty-Pskov" is particularly noteworthy. Its main objective is to increase the competitiveness of the regional economy by improving the structure and content of bachelor and master programs as well as additional professional programs in the field of business and economy, to align them with European quality standards and with current and future needs of the regional labour market.
