Norilsk State Industrial Institute

Norilsk State Industrial Institute is the most northern higher education establishment in Russia. It was founded in 1961.

The institute has 2 faculties: the faculty of mining and technology and the faculty of power engineering, economics and management. They consist of 14 departments and 9 of them are graduating. The institute offers more than 35 programs of study in technical and economic fields and trains both bachelors and specialists. Besides, 39 educational and 1 research laboratories operate at the institute.

Norilsk State Industrial Institute has built a strong reputation for teaching excellence and practical courses designed to give graduates the real-world skills needed to ensure a successful career. The curriculum integrates lectures with practical hours at the laboratories and workshops at the institute. Since the moment of its establishment more than 15,000 students have been graduated from NSII. The total number of students is 1,627. The staff are well qualified. All combine expertise in their fields with a commitment to develop the potential of every student on the courses for which they are responsible. The number of academic staff is 101. The institute also has Polytechnic College, Center of qualifications improvement and professional retraining, Informational technology center, Scientific-research department, Publishing department, and Pre-college education center.

Norilsk State Industrial Institute collaborates with both Polar and Finnish branches of CJSC MMC “Norilsk Nickel”, Harjavalta, where the best students undergo their practical training.
