The NOAA National Weather Service, Alaska Region, the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), the College of Natural Science and Mathematics at UAF, the Geophysical Institute, and the International Arctic Research Center invite you to attend the 2009 Alaska Weather Symposium (AWS '09). The symposium provides a forum for the exchange of operational and research information related to weather in the Alaska environment. Participation from academic, research, government, and private sectors is encouraged.

The symposium will focus primarily on operational forecasting and observational sources in Alaska, polar aspects of weather, and datasets related to Alaska and polar weather. However, all abstracts relating to
weather in Alaska are welcome.

The three-day symposium will be held at the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus Tuesday through Thursday, 10-12 March 2009. Refreshments will be provided, though evening meals will be on-your-own,
with one organized evening out at a local establishment.

The deadline for one-paragraph abstracts for a 20-minute presentation is Tuesday, 13 January 2009. For further information on abstract submission procedures, please visit the symposium website:
