The United Nations mandated University for Peace Human Rights Centre is accepting applications for its annual field course entitled "Indigenous Peoples' Rights in the Field" that will take place from August 6 to August 12, 2012 in Costa Rica. This course aims to undertake a study of indigenous peoples’ rights through the lived experience of an indigenous community close to the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. The course combines theoretical and normative areas of indigenous peoples’ rights with field study, and includes the experience of being hosted for 5 days by a group of indigenous women from the community. The course is ideal for human rights advocates working with NGOs and civil society organizations, practitioners, academics, and students studying in areas of indigenous peoples’ rights, human rights, environment, gender and development. Detailed information about the field course can be found at Field trip's website.
