Organised by the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland; Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute (RKTL); Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE); Reindeer Herders’ Association in Finland; and the Sámi Educational Centre in Finland, this international seminar is open to researchers, research students, reindeer herders, managers and other stakeholders who are interested in the topic and exchange of knowledge and experiences.

The main focus of the seminar is on issues related to reindeer herding and land use questions in the Nordic reindeer herding area in Norway, Sweden and Finland. The aim is to discuss reindeer herding and land use activities at different levels, and to figure out frames not only for sustainable reindeer husbandry but also for sustainable co-management of land use between different interest groups in the Nordic countries.

Also other topics such as reindeer ecology and welfare and cultural and social questions related to reindeer herding are included and invited for abstracts.
