This full-time position (37.5 hrs/wk) is a one year term that will commence June 1st, 2012. The Research Assistant will work at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, SK) to support projects conducted by researchers associated with the ICNGD and the U of S. These projects will include capacity-building in the North and modern treaty implementation in Canada.

The Research Assistant’s responsibilities will include scholarly, government, Internet, and field research, as well as writing/reporting activities and some administration. Typical duties will include: identifying suitable research materials; composing briefing notes; statistical analysis (e.g. through SPSS); interviewing stakeholders; logistics associated with local and remote field research; data entry; data management; writing reports; and working closely with collaborators within the University of Saskatchewan, government and First Nations partners, and other universities/organizations. The salary for this position is $15/hour.

The minimum qualifications are a B.A. in a related field (e.g. Political Studies, Northern Studies, Native Studies, History, or similar) and significant research experience. A M.A. or M.N.G.D. is preferred.
