In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, we’re sharing the story of the Education is Unity totem pole on our Terrace campus. Raised in 2004, this pole represents the strength, unity, and shared commitment to education among the seven Indigenous nations of the Northwest Coast. This pole was the first ever raised on a CMTN campus.
Students in Traditions in Bloom: Indigenous Ethnobotany of K’xeen and Beyond spent two immersive weeks exploring the cultural and scientific relationships between plants, people, and place. From plant walks and hands-on labs to a rainy but memorable overnight trip, the field school offered learning rooted in both traditional knowledge and local community.
Community members looking to complete one or two business courses now have the option to enroll in Business Administration – Open Studies, starting at CMTN's Terrace, Prince Rupert, and Smithers Campuses in September 2025.

Additional one-time funding has allowed Coast Mountain College to create a new adult upgrading educational advisor position, which will provide dedicated support for prospective learners at all stages in the adult upgrading process.
