The Nansen professorship in Arctic Studies is funded by the Norwegian and Icelandic governments. The professorship is not constraint to a specific field of study but rather supports research which focuses on issues directly related to the Arctic, with special emphasizes on the legal, economic, social and natural circumstances in the Arctic.

The position is open up for candidates that currently hold an academic position but would take a sabbatical or leave from their current position during their tenure as Nansen professor. The position is for up-to-twelve months period starting on September 1, 2015 but starting date is negotiable.
