The Laera Institute Steering Committee meetings and activities: The Committee met once monthly in January, February and March during the first 2025 reporting period to plan activities, refine governance structures, and consolidate support for a name change for the institution from Laera Institute for Circumpolar Education to Laera Institute for Circumpolar Studies. Activities included the development of two submitted grant applications by Laera and institutional partners - for assessment and redevelopment of UArctic core curriculum.
Dr. Heather Nicol of Trent University has successfully led a two-year collaborative initiative to enrich UArctic’s Circumpolar Studies curriculum by integrating Indigenous knowledge and experiential learning. Read more here.
