Recognising the benefits to be gained from a multi-regional approach to transport challenges the network will focus on the following activities:
- Formal establishment of the network and development of governance structure and operational framework
- Joint research projects on topics such as transport electrification, infrastructure modelling and the relationship between transport and journey making and sense of place and identity
- Creation of mailing list
- Development of online-based course and flexible education programmes on Arctic transport systems
- Organisation of interdisciplinary workshops and seminars to share knowledge and best practice
- Focus on Indigenous knowledge and community engagement in transport planning
- Creation of a digital repository of case studies, stories, and historical impacts of transport infrastructure in Arctic regions
- Publication of research findings in academic journals and policy briefs
- Training programmes for students and researchers on modelling and visualising transport infrastructure
- Events and exhibitions to celebrate the historical importance of transport in conferring and maintaining a sense of place, community and identify
- Development of tools for community engagement and co-design in transport planning
