The University of Windsor is a public research university located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada which began in 1857 as Assumption College, and was officially incorporated as a University in 1962. It is Canada's southernmost university, is located in Canada’s southernmost city enjoying some of the country’s best weather, and is geographically situated next to North America’s busiest international border crossing. The University of Windsor has nine faculties, including the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Engineering, Odette School of Business, the Faculty of Graduate Studies, the Faculty of Human Kinetics, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Nursing. Through its faculties, institues and independent schools, the university has demonstrated its primary research focuses of automotive, environmental, social justice, and international trade research. In recent years, it has increasingly begun focusing on health, natural science, and entrepreneurship research. In 2024 the University was named one of the top research universities in Canada by Research Infosource Inc, ranking No. 1 in garnering the greatest percentage of its total research funding from international governments.
