University of Vaasa

The University of Vaasa (hereafter UVA) is a specialised, full-service university that integrates expertise from business, technology, and social sciences to offer education and research programmes advancing sustainable business, energy, and society. Established as the Vaasa School of Economics in 1968, UVA has gradually expanded its portfolio to include industrial management as well as aligned technology and social science disciplines. This development has positioned UVA uniquely in Finland as a provider of multidisciplinary, business-focused education and research in the key areas of sustainable business, energy, and society. Our emerging focus is on preparedness and resilience. Today, UVA is also the largest provider of business studies among Finnish universities.

UVA is a public, not-for-profit university, with the right to grant bachelor’s, master’s, licentiate, and doctoral degrees. The University of Vaasa is currently organised into four multidisciplinary schools: the School of Management, the School of Marketing and Communication, the School of Accounting and Finance, and the School of Technology and Innovations. These schools are complemented by four interdisciplinary research platforms. In addition to degree-awarding education, UVA offers continuous learning and executive education. The University’s scientific impact is demonstrated through its success in several international rankings. UVA has also obtained both programme-specific accreditations and the prestigious AACSB accreditation. The university community consists of more than 700 faculty and staff and roughly 7,000 students in an international student city.
