Created by the Government of British Columbia, Canada, Royal Roads' focus is on the current needs of clients and students by delivering innovative doctoral, master's and undergraduate completion degree programs, as well as graduate certificates, diplomas and executive development programs.

External validation of the success of our instruction and learning technology is evidenced by the 2012 Maclean's magazine ranking of universities based on National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) results where Royal Roads is ranked the top public university in the benchmark areas of "active and collaborative learning" and "level of academic challenge. Royal Roads University is known nationally and internationally for both academic quality and innovation.

Royal Roads is an accredited member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and is the first British Columbia post-secondary institution to receive the Education Quality Assurance designation.

Royal Roads is also a member of the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS), The Western Canadian Deans of Graduate Studies (WCDGS), Canadian Federation for Humanities and Social Sciences (CFHSS), Canadian Association of University Research Administrators (CAURA), and Canadian Association of Research Ethics Boards (CARES).
