UArctic International Secretariat signs ULapland agreement for next three years

A Memorandum of Understanding between UArctic and the University of Lapland on the role and functions of the UArctic International Secretariat at the University of Lapland for the next three years was signed on December 7, 2006.
UArctic President Lars Kullerud met with the Rector of the University of Lapland, Mauri Ylä-Kotola, to negotiate the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding. The two leaders, joined by Outi Snellman, who heads the UArctic International Secretariat, also held talks on the various ways in which the University of Lapland can participate in UArctic's programmatic activities.

Rector Ylä-Kotola reaffirmed his institution's committment to UArctic's mission and objectives. "The University of Lapland will continue to show leadership in Arctic research and education," he said.
During his visit to Rovaniemi, President Kullerud also had discussions with representatives of the University of Lapland's Faculty of Art and Design on plans to create thematic partnerships on Art and Design in UArctic's members.
