The Barents Education Network held a staff development workshop on the "Development of International Marketing Network to Promote Barents Region Higher Education" in Kemi, Finland, on May 8.
 
The workshop, hosted by the Kemi-Tornio Polytechnic, was organized within the framework of the Erasmus Mundus project "Development of International Marketing Network to Promote Barents Region Higher Education".

Various sessions on themes such as global trends in international higher education, theory and practice of international marketing, and branding were given by  experts Thijs van Vugt, from International Education and Development Solutions (the Netherlands), and Tim Rogers of Tim Rogers International Education Consultants (UK).
 
Participants from all thirteen Barents Education Network partners attended the one-day seminar, which was linked to the final meeting of the "Development of International Marketing Network to Promote Barents Region Higher Education" project. The project, which started in October 2004, had for objectives to increase competitiveness and promote quality offer of the Barents region higher education through improved accessibility and structured cooperation among Barents region and third-country institutions.
 
On May 9 and 10, the partners met to finalize the project's results and assess its acheivements, as well as to evaluate its future.
