This is a call for papers to be submitted for the first issue of the journal. The deadline for submission is May 15th, 2013 and the first issue will be published in autumn 2013. Since this year is the 20th anniversary of the Barents cooperation we welcome submissions related to the topic of regionalism in its diverse forms and manifestations in the region. We are open to new, innovative, ground-breaking approaches to the study of the region, regionalism and regionalization. Submissions should be sent to research professor Monica Tennberg, Arctic Centre, University of Lapland, Finland (monica.tennberg@ulapland.fi) by email. More information, including instructions for writers, can be found from the journal website: http://www.barentsinfo.org/barentsstudies.

The journal will be published twice a year electronically and as a paper version. It will be easily accessible, free of charge, and will be distributed widely across the region and beyond. The journal will contain 3-4 peer-reviewed scientific articles, including also reviews on recent regionally relevant books, news, announcements, presentations of current research, institutions and significant projects. The three issues to be published in 2013-2014 will cover different aspects of sustainability in the region: the political, the social and the economic. The fourth issue will be a popularized one, consisting of a selection of academic articles, news, reviews and presentations. The project is funded by the EU Kolarctic ENPI CBC programme 2013-2014.
