The Arctic Circle Forum in Singapore, November 12th, 2015.

President of the Republic of Iceland, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, who is on an inaugural State Visit to Singapore, delivered the opening address at the Arctic Circle Singapore Forum alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean.

President Grímsson highlighted the growing global interest in the Arctic, and the importance of maintaining an inclusive and dynamic dialogue on Arctic affairs.  DPM Teo spoke about Singapore’s efforts to deepen our understanding of the Arctic and make relevant contributions. Both President Grímsson and DPM Teo welcomed the growing cooperation between Singapore and Iceland on the Arctic. 
 
The Arctic Circle Singapore Forum is jointly organised by the Arctic Circle and the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI), with the support of the Singapore Government. The opening of the Forum was attended by more than 200 speakers and participants including Arctic Ambassadors, senior government officials, and representatives from industry and academia. The forum was held in Singapore on November 12th, 2015.
