20th Council meeting of UArctic begins in Greenland

A series of pre-meetings and public discussion in Nuuk, Greenland will take place today, before the full meeting of the Council of the University of the Arctic (UArctic) begins on Aug 15. This year's Council meeting is hosted by Ilisimatusarfik/University of Greenland, with a pre-meeting excursion in Sisimiut hosted by the Arctic Technology Centre (ARTEK) of the Danish Technical University.
Representatives of UArctic's membership will meet in Nuuk from Aug 15 to 17, discussing their participation in key UArctic programs including Thematic Networks, north2north student mobility, and joint academic offerings. A series of networking sessions will help give feedback on the organization's current and future development, as well as helping new members better understand how they can actively participate in the network.
In addition to Council members from UArctic member institutions, a number of Senior Arctic Officials (SAOs) of the Arctic Council will join the meeting to discuss common issues during Finland's chairmanship period. The Council's agenda includes the approval of a number of new member applicants and seven new Thematic Networks.
