One Health is an approach to the health of humans, animals and the environment that recognizes their interdependence. This holistic strategy, focused on well-being, will improve the health of individuals, communities and the natural world.
One Health concepts and ideas lie at the core of Indigenous worldviews and are inextricably linked to the development of a sustainable future in the Arctic.

At UAF, we define health as a state of individual and community well-being that encompasses not only physical health but also mental, behavioural, emotional, cultural and spiritual health.

Strong interdisciplinary collaboration is essential to approaching some of the larger, emerging problems facing the Arctic – especially as it pertains to rapid effects of climate change and its adverse effects on communities.
