To complement the already launched calls, the goal is to identify one additional PhD student working in the field of northern or Arctic research who is currently studying at a small northern institution. The selected student will represent UArctic at the international science popularization contest during the Arctic Circle Assembly held in Reykjavik, Iceland on October 13-16 2022. Two other calls are ongoing to identify 10-12 participants from Québec, Canada and the Nordics. Together the finalists will present their northern research project in five minutes at a dedicated session at the Arctic Circle Assembly. The language of the presentations and proposals is English.

PhD students from UArctic member institutions outside the Nordic countries and Québec are eligible to apply. The call is targeted to applicants from small northern institutions. Also students from non-Arctic member institutions are eligible to apply. Depending on their location, UArctic will grant the selected student up to 2000€, which can be used for airfare, accommodation, and participation fee during the Arctic Circle Assembly.

Due to collaboration between UArctic and Russian institutions being paused, PhD students from Russian institutions are not eligible to apply in this call.
