A delegation consisting of students and staff coming from north2north institutions in Northern Canada visited UiT the Arctic University of Norway campus Alta on 21 November 2025.

Financed by north2north in Canada, this visit was a part of a study trip Northern Finland and to Northern Norway. Students and academic staff from Yukon University, Aurora College, Nunavut Arctic College and Memorial University of Newfoundland campus Labrador travelled to Northern Finland and Northern Norway to visit north2north partner institutions. This year’s study trip included visits to the Lapland University of Applied Sciences, the Sami University of Applied Sciences and UiT campus Alta.

Welcomed by the staff of the International Cooperation Section at UiT campus Alta, the group had lunch together with Norwegian and international students. Taylor Bell and Nick Biesenthal, two students from Lakehead University who currently are on a north2north exchange in Alta, made then a guided tour of the campus for the guest. They also shared their experiences as exchange students. The group attended then a meeting during which UArctic VP Mobility and the north2north National Agency for Norway had a general presentation of UiT the Arctic University of Norway. Academic staff from several departments such as the Department of Education, the Department of Child Welfare and Social Work, the School of Sport Sciences and the School of Economics came to present their course offers in English and their current research project within Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Friluftsliv (Outdoor Education) and Tourism.

Such visits are extremely important because they contribute to strengthening the academic cooperation between UArctic member institutions and inspiring students to go on a north2north exchange.
