New online course on snow science now available
A new online course on snow physics has been launched. Unpacking the Snowpack -course is developed together with the UArctic Thematic Network on Nordic Snow Network. The course offers a comprehensive introduction to the snow science and it is now available to learners worldwide.
The course features 12 learning modules covering a wide range of topics related to snow, including:
- Fundamentals of snow physics
- How snowpacks vary globally
- Local spatial variability of snow cover
- Internal structure and metamorphism of the snowpack
- Basic snow observation techniques
- Applications of snow data in research and practice
- The role of citizen science in snow monitoring
The course is designed for a broad audience, including researchers, students, environmental professionals, educators, journalists, and anyone with a general interest in snow and cold region environments. Learners can begin the course at any time and progress at their own pace.
