ARCUS and the Cold Climate Housing Research Center invite you to a virtual panel discussion exploring the socioeconomic dimensions of housing and infrastructure in Arctic communities.

Time: 10am AK/11am PT/12pm MT/1pm CT/2pm ET/7pm IST

The session will highlight community-driven approaches, interdisciplinary risk management, and innovative engineering solutions to the unique challenges of Arctic environments. Attendees will gain insights into the social, economic, and technological factors shaping resilient and sustainable housing in the North.
Panelists include: 
  • Dr. Jennifer Schmidt (University of Alaska Anchorage), co-lead of the Arctic Urban Risks and Adaptations (AURA) project, focusing on multi-hazard risk mapping and adaptive responses in Arctic communities.
  • Dr. Caitlin Donahue Wylie (University of Virginia), co-investigator examining integration of sensor networks in Arctic infrastructure, emphasizing collaborative knowledge production with communities.
  • Dr. Nima Farzadnia (University of Alaska Fairbanks), leading research on sustainable construction materials and smart infrastructure systems for cold-region environments.
