UArctic Networking Seminar Session to Strengthen Collaborative Arctic Research and Indigenous-Led Partnerships

Network Seminar Sessions (1)

On March 4, 2026, UArctic and Memorial University will host their first virtual Networking Seminar Session. The international session will spotlight Canadian UArctic Project Funding and bring together researchers, educators, and partners from across the circumpolar region to connect, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

On March 4, 2026, UArctic and Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador will host their first virtual Networking Seminar Session. This international session, which highlights the Canadian UArctic Project Funding, brings together researchers, educators, and partners from across the circumpolar region to connect, share ideas, and explore opportunities for collaboration. The free session, which has limited capacity, is designed to support participants in developing strong, partnership-driven project proposals while fostering dialogue across disciplines, regions, and knowledge systems.

At a time of significant transformation across the Arctic and Northern regions, international collaboration offers powerful opportunities to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and support community priorities. Many areas of focus in the North, including climate change, health and well-being, infrastructure, governance, and cultural continuity, benefit from approaches that cross borders and bring together diverse perspectives, expertise, and lived experience.

The seminar will highlight the importance of Indigenous-led and community-driven research. This commitment is reflected in the design of UArctic Project Funding programs, which prioritize respectful and ethical engagement, relationship-based collaboration, and approaches directed by the priorities and leadership of Indigenous and Northern communities.

Participants in the Networking Seminar Session will hear an overview of the Canadian UArctic Project Funding opportunities, including guidance on application processes and proposal development. The session will also feature short presentations from past funding recipients, who will share lessons learned from their projects and reflect on the impacts of collaborative research within Northern and Indigenous communities. These experiences highlight how even modest funding can catalyze meaningful partnerships, strengthen local capacity, and support knowledge exchange across regions.

The seminar will conclude with facilitated breakout discussions, offering participants space to discuss project ideas, identify potential collaborators, and consider how their work might align with UArctic funding streams. These conversations are intended to support early-stage idea development, encourage cross-institutional and international partnerships, and help participants move forward with proposals grounded in respect, reciprocity, and shared benefit. Participants can then showcase their idea to the group for interdisciplinary feedback.

Through creating space for connection and collaboration, the UArctic Networking Seminar Session reflects the network’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Arctic research and education in ways that are inclusive and responsive to the realities of Northern communities. The session underscores the importance of working together across borders and knowledge systems to support sustainable, community-centred futures for the Arctic.
