Conflicting Ethnohistories: Conflicts and Restitution in Eurasian and Siberian Ethnohistory

An international team of Arctic researchers from Tohoku University, the University of Helsinki, and the University of Aberdeen presented a well-attended panel on Eurasian studies at the 13th East Asian Conference on Slavic Eurasian Studies in Japan from 29–31 May, 2026.

 The focus of the conference had been on the war of aggression in Ukraine.  The panel Conflicting Ethnohistories: Conflicts and Restitution in Eurasian and Siberian Ethnohistorydirected attention to the constructive way that Indigenous peoples in Siberia and Mongolia are responding to these events.
