Professor Bente Norbye Awarded the Prestigious Anders Forsdahl Prize 2025
The Northern Nursing Education Network (NNEN) proudly congratulates its co-founder, Bente Norbye, Professor and specialist nurse at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, on receiving the Anders Forsdahl Prize 2025.
The award recognizes Norbye’s lifelong commitment to strengthening nursing education and healthcare services in rural and northern communities. She is the first nurse to receive the Anders Forsdahl Prize, a prestigious award in the field of rural medicine and healthcare that has previously been awarded exclusively to physicians. Through her teaching, research, and development work, she has contributed significantly to recruiting and educating nurses for rural areas in Northern Norway and to raising awareness of healthcare competence challenges across circumpolar regions.
Norbye has also been a driving force in international collaboration in the North and is one of the founders of the Northern Nursing Education Network (NNEN), a UArctic thematic network dedicated to advancing nursing education and research across the circumpolar region.
