A new intern Oona Muje has joined the UArctic International Secretariat at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi as an intern from September 2026 until the end of December 2026.

The new intern Oona Muje is a recent graduate from Aarhus University with master's degree in Human Security. She is joining the UArctic International Secretariat from September to December 2026 for an internship supported by the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science.

Oona grew up in Rovaniemi and moved abroad for her education. She obtained her bachelor's degree in politics and religious studies from University of Glasgow, and has since 2023 lived in Aarhus, Denmark, where she completed her master's studies. She is returning to her roots for the internship, and she is excited to apply her experience and education to Arctic context. She is especially interested in the human security aspects in the Arctic, including Arctic livelihoods and sustainable Arctic communities.

Oona is looking forward to working at the UArctic International Secretariat and learning more about Arctic cooperation. She is also excited to experience the fall and winter in Lapland again, and hopes to experience cultural events and to go cross-country skiing later in the year.

The main tasks for Oona during the internship will be writing and posting news stories and updating the UArctic website, as well as supporting event planning and coordination at UArctic International Secretariat.
