Alaska Center for Energy and Power

The Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is an applied energy research group, focusing on innovative, practical and cost-saving solutions for community and industry-scale power generation, transmission, heating and transportation fuels.

Key elements of ACEP research and services include:

• Energy modeling, data collection, analysis and management in collaboration with microgrid communities, industry and agencies;
• Third-party testing on power systems integration hardware and software in a controlled, community-scale microgrid under realistic conditions, reducing risk to villages and remote locations;
• Testing and developing of marine energy power-generating devices and technology under realistic Alaskan river conditions;
• Solar power monitoring and data collection on mono-and bi-facial solar arrays below and above the Arctic Circle; and
• Developing Alaska’s energy workforce through energy internships and energy leadership programs.
