The UArctic Congress 2026 took place from May 26 to 29, 2026 in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. The event was hosted by the University of the Faroe Islands, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Fisheries and the Faroe Marine Research Institute.
The 2026 Congress themes were aligned with the Kingdom of Denmark’s priorities for its Arctic Council Chairship program:
As a unique feature, the UArctic Congress 2026 incorporated the Ocean Connectivity Conference, an international ocean conference dedicated to Sub Arctic and High Arctic connectivity. The Ocean Connectivity Conference was organized by the Kingdom of Denmark's Chairship of the Arctic Council in partnership with UArctic and the University of the Faroe Islands, and it was part of the official Chairship program of the Kingdom of Denmark (2025-2027). UArctic Congress 2026 partners and sponsors:

The UArctic Congress is a biennial event that brings together a science conference and key UArctic meetings into a single gathering.
With the aim to foster contacts and enhance networking, the UArctic Congress welcomes institutional leaders, Indigenous representatives, academics, scientists, and students from around the Circumpolar North and beyond. Together with partners, policy makers, and other actors, the Congress strives to take the Arctic agenda forward by creating and strengthening collaborations that produce new findings and solutions for the future of the Arctic region.
In addition to high-level plenary and parallel sessions, the Congress also includes the UArctic Assembly and Rectors meetings, as well as networking and social events. It is therefore an excellent platform for UArctic members to engage with each other, establish new connections, and promote cooperation in circumpolar research and higher education.
