The Forum facilitates research on issues and problems relevant to the contemporary Northern agenda and believed to have global significance. The main mission of the NRF is to address the critical issues and to highlight the opportunities which is faced by people living in the regions of the Circumpolar North including the Nordic Region. Important topics and challenges include community viability, social and human capital, knowledge and education, quality of life, sustainable development and use of natural resources, energy efficiency, governance, human and environmental security, and environmental risks and threats, and in particular, climate change.
