This Thematic Network fosters cooperation across borders, disciplines, and sectors, bringing together researchers, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and decision-makers. It supports the sharing of knowledge, resources, and research approaches and promotes collaboration through inclusive dialogue and knowledge exchange.  

The network supports diverse knowledge systems and traditions and elevates dialogues across geographic, socioeconomic, and political differences This work will support diplomacy, research cooperation, and the development of practical solutions for global challenges, recognizing the interconnectedness of the Arctic and Antarctic in planetary health.

By facilitating an equitable exchange among scientific research, Indigenous Knowledge, and local expertise alike, the network seeks to strengthen understanding and support more effective and informed decision-making in the polar regions. Drawing on this broader definition of research cooperation and diplomacy, the Thematic Network serves as a forum for the collective defining, discussing, and solving of problems across scales.
