Polar Research Cooperation and Diplomacy

The UArctic Thematic Network on Polar Research Cooperation and Diplomacy (PRCD) builds on recommendations from the International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP) Research Priority Team 4 report and supports preparations for the Fifth International Polar Year (2032-2033).

The network provides a platform for collaboration and dialogue among researchers, Indigenous leaders and knowledge holders, and other Arctic stakeholders and rightsholders, drawing on scientific research, Indigenous Knowledges, local expertise, and perspectives from the arts and humanities.

The PRCD Thematic Network supports research cooperation and diplomacy, peacebuilding, sustainability initiatives, evidence-based decision-making, and justice in the Arctic and Antarctic, with a focus on collaboration across borders, sectors, and knowledge systems.  It aspires to realize actionable, equitable, and inclusive science in service to better diplomatic and social outcomes in the polar regions and globally.

Goals
