north2north for Norway

north2north exchange funding for academic and administrative staff (faculty and staff) to and from Norway

Outbound mobility from Norway:

Outbound mbility from Norway can take place to any north2north institution abroad depending on institutions’ academic and strategic priorities. However, in case of competition for funds, applications to countries outside Erasmus+/Nordplus area will be prioritized.

All academic and administrative staff members officially employed at a Norwegian north2north institution* can apply for a north2north grant to partially cover travel and accommodation in connection with the north2north exchange.

Supported activities: teaching, research and networking activities on an Arctic related topic. If research is the purpose of the north2north exchange, it is required that the host intuition is actively involved, and the expected outcome of the joint activities is described in the application and confirmed by the academic contact at the partner institution.

The north2north exchanges should contribute to bringing north2north institutions closer together by developing and sharing joint knowledge about Arctic and Northern related issues.

The Norwegian north2north program supports exchanges that go beyond the participants’ individual benefits and career improvement.

The goal of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research is that 50% of all Norwegian students must have been on international exchange as a part of their degree by the time they graduate from a Norwegian Higher Education Institution. Academic (faculty) and administrative staff who apply for north2north support are therefore encouraged to make arrangements for student exchange semesters. Applications that emphasize the student exchange dimension will be prioritized when distributing north2north grants.

Participation in conferences and scientific events is not supported by the Norwegian north2north.

Norwegian north2north contacts can apply for a north2north mobility grant to visit other north2north institutions for studying possibilities for cooperation.

Duration of exchange: the duration of exchange should be of minimum 3 working days, not including travelling days. north2north funding can be given for exchanges of maximum 2 weeks' duration. Nevertheless, if a participant wants to stay longer at the host institution, it is possible, but will not be subject to extended financial support from the north2north.

The applicant is responsible for finding the partner university and arranging the exchange. Exchanges must be confirmed by the host university (signature in the application form) and by the home university (Faculty Dean/Head of Department and the north2north contact person).
The north2north grant cannot be combined with another external funding.

Applicants should fill in the Norwegian n2n application form for faculty and staff members  and submit it through the north2north contact at home institution. List of north2north contact persons.
