Arctic Energy Summit to be held during International Polar Year
The Arctic Energy Summit, focusing on the Arctic as an emerging energy province, will be convened during the International Polar Year (IPY).
An official IPY project, the Arctic Energy Summit will feature activities for all the duration of the thematic year (2007-2008). One of the main components of the program is a major technology conference which will bring together over 600 researchers, academics, government leaders, industry representatives and residents of the Arctic in Anchorage, Alaska, in October of 2007.Other activities in the planning include an Arctic energy website in English and Russian, undergraduate and graduate level courses on Arctic energy given by the University of the Arctic and the University of Alaska, and the creation and recommendations of an international Arctic energy action team.
