The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is a cooperative network of universities, colleges, research institutes, and other organizations concerned with education and research in and about the North. UArctic builds and strengthens collective resources and collaborative infrastructure that enable member institutions to better serve their constituents and their regions. Through cooperation in education, research, and outreach, human capacity in the North is enhanced, viable communities and sustainable economies are promoted, and global partnerships are forged. UArctic is seeking a Director of Development to work closely with its leadership to define, lead and evaluate UArctic’s philanthropic and non-profit fundraising activities and programmes.

This position will strategically drive the contributed support and financial growth of UArctic and will report to the Vice President of Finance, Development & Engagement and the Vice President of Organization. The successful candidate should be a strong donor and volunteer relationship builder, must demonstrate experience and flair for operating in a small organization with an international reach, have experience at high-level fundraising, from a wide range of sources, and be comfortable communicating at all levels.

The primary duties of the Director of Development will include, creation and management of UArctic’s integrated long-term fundraising strategy, designing fundraising programmes, building an international donor base, identifying and cultivating major gift prospects (corporations, individuals, trusts and foundations), creating and maintaining a prospect research function and management system, and building high-level relationships internationally with donors and potential donors.

UArctic is looking for someone to join its diverse team, to ideally work through the Secretariat, headquartered in Rovaniemi. Finland.

Candidates must have the following qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience in business, marketing or non-profit leadership, or equivalent professional qualifications: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred

Work Experience:

Extensive fundraising within the non-profit sector: Preferred
Extensive experience in a prominent fundraising position: Preferred

Salary: €71,000 to €73,000
