The UArctic Thematic Network on Law, in collaboration with the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law of the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, has organized a learning satellite – a series of lectures delivered online – focusing on indigenous and tribal peoples’ studies highlighting comparative perspectives from India and the Arctic.
The learning satellite was an activity within the framework of the project entitled: "Interdisciplinary curricula on indigenous and tribal peoples’ studies" funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI). The project is a collaborative initiative among five Universities, including the University of Lapland and Oulu University from Finland and the University of North Bengal, Sikkim University, and Indra Gandhi National Tribal University from India.
The learning satellite was participated by twenty-four selected students representing all five Universities. In addition, a set of key resource persons from the partner universities delivered a series of lectures on Indigenous and tribal peoples’ perspectives from the lens of law, human rights, political science, history, sociology, anthropology, and gender studies. Five participating students will be chosen to conduct academic mobility between India and Finland during the end of spring and fall 2022.
