13th National Seminar on Snow in Oulu, Finland
For the first time, Oulu hosted the 13th National Seminar on Snow, bringing together researchers and snow enthusiasts to explore the many dimensions of snow science
The 13th National Seminar on Snow was held for the first time in Oulu, Finland, gathering researchers and snow enthusiasts for discussions on diverse aspects of snow science.
The two-day seminar included presentations and poster session, covering a range of topics related to snow, such as scientific snow studies, societal aspects of snow, and the importance of snow for water resources. This year, the seminar also serves as the final conference of the CRYO-RI project, hosting a session for snow monitoring technologies.
The seminar proudly presented a dedicated session for the intersection of snow and arts + sports, with Olympic gold medalist Sami Jauhojärvi as the keynote speaker.
The seminar was organized by University of Oulu in collaboration with the UArctic Thematic Network Nordic Snow Network and participation from UArctic members University of Lapland, and the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
Next year, the seminar will be held at Arctic Space Centre of Finnish Meteorological Institute in Sodankylä, Finland.
