The UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Law and the UArctic Chair in Arctic Legal Research and Education proudly announce the call for papers for the thirteenth volume of Current Developments in Arctic Law (CDAL), scheduled for publication in December 2025.

Current Developments in Arctic Law is a renowned open-access journal that provides a platform for timely discussions on legal and policy advancements pertinent to the Arctic. This volume aims to showcase scholarly and practical insights into Arctic law, encompassing governance, Indigenous rights, environmental law, maritime law, international law, national legal developments, and other regulatory and policy matters relevant to the Arctic region.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions are welcome from researchers, scholars, policymakers, students, and practitioners involved in Arctic legal issues. Contributions may include short academic articles, research summaries, project reports, policy commentaries, or summaries of legal developments. Early-career researchers are particularly encouraged to submit.

Submission Details

Contributions should ideally be around 3,000 words, although shorter or longer texts will be considered. The editorial team will review all submissions but will be published as non-peer-reviewed content. The publication will be open access and freely available to all.

Expected Publication: December 2025
