Collège Nordique is organizing an International Forum on the Preservation and Promotion of Northern Indigenous and Minority Languages, taking place in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, on February 9 and 10, 2026.
The forum will bring together Elders, language leaders, educators, researchers, and practitioners from across the North. Presenters and panelists will be participating both in person and online, creating space for meaningful exchange regardless of location. We are committed to ensuring that virtual participation is fully integrated into the forum.
Virtual participants will have opportunities to contribute through facilitated discussions and to engage in dialogue on shared challenges and opportunities, including community-led language work, collaboration across different fields of expertise, and transboundary partnerships. The forum also marks the beginning of an emerging UArctic thematic network to strengthen collaboration and knowledge-sharing among those working with Indigenous and minority languages across the North.
