Arctic Water Network (ArcticWater)

ArcticWater thematic network connects researchers, stakeholders, authorities, and operators to improve how Arctic water systems are observed, modelled, and co-managed under rapid climate change. The network focuses on hydrological processes and Arctic water resource management—from source to sea —with an emphasis on Arctic hydrology, biogeochemistry, carbon, greenhouse gases and risk-informed decision support.

Goals

The ArcticWater network harmonizes methods, builds open benchmarks for models, and co-produces practical guidance for floods, ice hazards, low flows, and community water security. The network delivers field schools and mobility across the circumpolar North and blends Indigenous and Local Knowledge with scientific monitoring through a Two-Eyed Seeing approach. Hosted by the Water, Energy and Environmental Research Unit at the University of Oulu, Arctic Water is an open platform for collaboration.
