Arctic Water Network (ArcticWater)

ArcticWater thematic network connects researchers, stakeholders, authorities, and operators to improve how Arctic water systems are observed, modelled, and co-managed under rapid climate change. The network focuses on hydrological processes and Arctic water resource management—from source to sea —with an emphasis on Arctic hydrology, biogeochemistry, carbon, greenhouse gases and risk-informed decision support.

Goals

The main objective of ArcticWater is to build a collaborative network that increases the visibility and impact of Arctic water research and supports evidence-based decision-making. The network connects researchers, stakeholders, and authorities to share data, harmonize methods, and develop joint research, while strengthening capacity through education, training, and mobility across disciplines. It also advances monitoring, modelling, and knowledge co-production with Indigenous and local communities to provide practical guidance for water management, risk mitigation, and climate resilience in the Arctic.
