Tampere University is Finland’s second-largest university and one of the country’s most multidisciplinary research institutions. Our education and research profile is built around the themes of technology, health and society - and, importantly, the dynamic intersections where these fields meet. This broad academic foundation enables research that ranges from specialist areas such as game cultures to advanced life‑science and medical research, often carried out by multidisciplinary teams working across traditional academic boundaries.
The university operates across three distinct campuses in Tampere, each with its own academic and research strengths.

Our home city, Tampere, is widely recognised for its appeal as a place to live and study. The region is also famous for four distinct seasons, easy access to nature, and the Finnish lake landscape. And because this is the Sauna Capital of the World, you can experience a living part of Finnish culture year-round - there are over 70 public saunas across the region. Just steps from the City centre campus, the world’s only Moomin Museum invites you into the art and stories of Tove Jansson.

At Tampere University, students are encouraged to shape a study path that reflects their interests and goals. Teaching is organised in four teaching periods, and the course offering includes both structured lecture-based learning and flexible study options. The result is a study experience that combines academic freedom with strong support - helping you build both depth in your field and the ability to connect knowledge across disciplines.
