Scholarships to support French participation in the UArctic Congress 2026 and Ocean Connectivity Conference
This programme, supported by the French Institutes in Denmark and Norway, aims to facilitate the participation of French researchers in the UArctic Congress 2026 and the Ocean Connectivity Conference. It covers travel and registration costs for selected candidates.
This initiative by the French Institutes in Denmark and Norway is part of the respective presidencies of the Arctic Council by the Kingdom of Norway (2023–2025) and the Kingdom of Denmark (2025–2027). It supports the scientific priorities promoted by France and the United Nations, notably at the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3), which was successfully held in Nice in June 2025, and within the framework of the Decade of the Cryosphere (2025-2034). It aims to support the active participation of French researchers in the UArctic Congress 2026 and the Ocean Connectivity Conference, in support of France’s commitment to polar and ocean sciences and cooperation with Nordic researchers.

Purpose of the programme
This programme, supported by the French Institutes in Denmark and Norway, aims to facilitate the participation of French researchers in the UArctic Congress 2026 and the Ocean Connectivity Conference. It covers travel and registration costs for selected candidates.
The priority themes of the Congress are sustainable economic development and international cooperation; oceans and marine connectivity; climate change in the Arctic; biodiversity; and Indigenous peoples and northern communities.
Eligible beneficiaries
- French researchers (including doctoral and post-doctoral students): affiliation with a French research institution.
- Have an abstract proposed to the scientific committee of the UArctic Congress 2026 (call for abstract proposals – deadline for submission is 15 January 2025).
Nature of the grant
The grant covers, within the limits of the available budget and the number of projects selected, and for a maximum amount of €2,000 per grant recipient:
- Registration fees for the UArctic Congress 2026 (including access to the Ocean Connectivity Conference).
- Travel expenses (transport, per diem).
Application procedure
Documents to be provided:
- A CV detailing your affiliation with a French research institution and including a list of publications.
- Your abstract.
- A cover letter (1 page max.) explaining the scientific and partnership interest of your participation.
- A summary budget highlighting the amount requested (up to €2,000).
Application deadline: 15 January 2026.

Selection of candidates
Priority: Preference will be given to candidates whose projects have been selected by the UArctic Congress 2026.
