The Scottish Arctic Network (ScAN), serving as UArctic’s Regional Centre in Scotland, has shared several exciting developments that highlight growing Scottish-Arctic collaboration across research, mobility, and knowledge exchange.
Scottish Government awards SEEP funding
ScAN is pleased to announce that the Scottish Government has awarded the network with £10,000 through the SEEP programme to support the Strengthening Scottish Arctic Connections project. This funding will contribute directly to ScAN’s travel grant and preparations for the upcoming Scottish Arctic Conference in March 2026.

The next ScAN Annual General Meeting and the Scottish Arctic Conference will take place in St Andrews on 5–6 March 2026.
Nordic Atlantic Cooperation project kicks off

New ScAN intern joins the team
ScAN warmly welcomes its new intern, Hayley McLennan, a final-year Marine Biology PhD candidate at the University of St Andrews. Hayley joins the network on a 12-month internship funded by UArctic.
ScAN’s Caroline Haas picks up Arctic prize in Reykjavík
Congratulations to Caroline Haas, a recently completed co-tutelle student at the University of St Andrews and the University of Iceland, who won the Mon Projet Nordique / My Northern Project science popularisation competition at the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavík.
