High Latitude Dust Workshop 2026

HDL2026
The 10th HLD Workshop will take place in Reykjavik on 11–12 February 2026 and will be held in a hybrid format, including online talks.

In-situ measurements, remote sensing, modeling, long-range transport, and impacts of HLD, low latitude dust and aerosols in the Arctic, emphasizing CAMS in Iceland.

The overarching aims of this interdisciplinary workshop are to introduce results from HLD field measurements, processes leading to dust suspension, identification and mapping of HLD sources, long-range transport of HLD as well as of Saharan dust towards the Arctic, impacts of impurities on cryosphere, and the role of aerosols in high latitude environments.

The main focus in 2026 is in-situ measurements, remote sensing, modeling, long-range transport, and climate impacts of HLD and low latitude dust in the Arctic and at high latitudes. There will be an opportunity to attend the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) session in Iceland with experts on aerosol monitoring and modeling from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and World Meteorological Organization Sand and Dust Storm Warning Advisory and Assessment System (WMO SDS WAS).

The registration for on-site attendees is mandatory by 20th January 2026 at https://ice-dust.com/event/event-hld-2026/.

Tentative titles can be uploaded until 27th January 2026. Please include oral/poster and online/onsite preference.
