We are pleased to invite you to the third session of the 2026 UArctic Webinar Series, which will focus on the theme of Arctic Waste: Challenges and Community Solutions.

This webinar brings together an exceptional group of panelists who are deeply engaged in this work across academic, community, and policy contexts:

• Moderator: Sudip Rakshit – UArctic Chair, Integrated Sustainability Analysis and Circular Bioeconomy, Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) Bioenergy and Bio-refining Processes (2012-26), and Professor at Lakehead University.
• Anderson Assuah ­– Associate Professor and Founder/Chairperson of the Sustainability Committee at University College of the North, Lead on UArctic Thematic Network on Solid Waste Management in the Arctic
• Chris Vaughn – Manager, Sustainability and Solid Waste at the City of Yellowknife
• Gunvor Marie Kirkelund - Associate Professor and Head of Education, Chair of Study Board (ISN) at the Technical University of Denmark

Each panelist brings unique experience and insight into waste management and sustainability across Arctic and Northern contexts. Together, they will explore the challenges Northern communities face in managing waste, while highlighting community-driven solutions, circular economy approaches, innovative technologies, and collaborative strategies for reducing waste and improving resource management. Drawing on perspectives from academia, municipal government, and the UArctic network, the discussion will also examine how research, policy, and community partnerships can work together to strengthen environmental stewardship and support more sustainable and resilient Northern communities.
