Outbound Mobility

The northern Canadian north2north funding is available for students and staff/faculty at participating north2north member institutions in Canada with a priority to support those living in or from Canada’s Arctic and northern regions (YT, NT, NU, Labrador) and/or those studying, researching, or teaching topics related to Arctic, Indigenous, or Northern Circumpolar subjects.

Exchanges can take place between participating north2north institutions in USA, Iceland, Greenland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Australia, UK, and France. Exchanges within or to Canada’s territories may also be supported.

Students studying at a north2north member institution in Canada can receive grants of up to 9000 CAD. This program is intended but not limited to expand exchange opportunities throughout the circumpolar north for Arctic and northern students and staff/faculty studying or working in Canada’s north, as well as for students from groups under-represented in study-abroad programs. Funding priorities are listed at yukonu.ca/north2north.

north2north coordinators can email studyabroad@yukonu.ca for more details. Students should contact their home institution's north2north coordinator to express their interest in participating in a north2north exchange and apply for funding by visiting yukonu.ca/north2north.

 

When

What

Early January  

Northern Canada/national Coordinator will publish the application  link to yukonu.ca/north2north and inform north2north coordinators in Canada by email.

Mid-February

Deadline for all potential applicants to submit their online application. In the application students must upload a motivation questionnaire, a Transcript in English and list up to three preferred institutions/campuses they wish to attend. Application deadline: February 15

Early March

Deadline for national coordinator to allocate grants to eligible outbound students. Applications will be assessed based off the priority list and eligibility criteria.

By mid-March

The national coordinator will inform north2north institutional contacts and/or applicants regarding grant approval decisions. 

 

Inbound Mobility (students from USA, Iceland and UK) 

The north2north Northern Canada program will provide a limited number of grants of 5000 CAD to students from Iceland, United Kingdom or the USA to study at a north2north member institution in Canada. Priority will be given to students who are studying  subjects related to Arctic, Indigenous or Northern Circumpolar Programs. Students applying for funding must be residents in the country where their home institution is located. north2north coordinators who have students who have been allocated tuition waivers to Canada and wish to apply for a north2north grant must send an email to: studyabroad@yukonu.ca by April 25 - Fall semester. October 25 - Winter(spring) semester. The national Coordinator will send application instructions to applicants shortly after. The north2north institutional coordinators should also nominate the students at the host institution within the nomination deadlines

Inbound mobility to Canada

Students from Norway, Sweden, Finland or the Kingdom of Denmark should contact the north2north institutional contact at their home institution for application instructions and funding procedures.
