Application Procedure to and from Canada

Outbound Mobility (students living in Canada's arctic and northern regions)

The north2north Northern Canada program supports outgoing student mobility for students who are living in or from Canada's arctic and northern regions and studying at a north2north member institution.

Students who apply for funding must have finished or are finishing their first year of studies and be in a Diploma, Degree or Graduate program. Grants will be provided for short term exchanges, training placements and mobility to up to two semesters with a maximum financing of 8000 CAD.  This includes, up to 3000 CAD for travel related expenditures and 250 CAD/week or 1000 CAD/month for living expenses for the duration of studies.

Outbound Mobility (rest of Canada)

The north2north Northern Canada program will provide some grants of up to 6000 CAD to students who are studying at a north2north member institution in Canada outside of Canada's northern region. Students who are studying subjects relevant to Arctic, Indigenous or Northern Circumpolar Programs will be prioritized. The north2north coordinators can send an e-mail to: studyabroad@yukonu.ca for more details. Students should contact their home institutions north2north Coordinator to inform them of their interest in participating in a north2north exchange and apply to funding by visiting yukonu.ca/north2north.

 

When

What

Early January  

Northern Canada/national Coordinator will upload application link to yukonu.ca/north2north and inform north2north coordinators in Canada by email.

Mid-February

Deadline for all potential applicants to submit their online application. In the application students must upload a motivation questionnaire, Transcript in English and list two choices of institutions/campuses they wish to attend. 

Early March

Deadline for national coordinator to allocate grants to all potential outbound students. Applications will be assessed based off the priority list and eligibility requirements.

By mid-March

The national coordinator will inform north2north institutional contacts and/or applicants if they are approved for a grant. 

 

 

Inbound Mobility (students from USA, Iceland and Scotland)

The north2north Northern Canada program will provide a small number of grants of 5000 CAD to students from Iceland, Scotland or USA to study at a north2north member institution in Canada. Students who are studying  subjects related to Arctic, Indigenous or Northern Circumpolar Programs will be prioritized. Students who apply for funding must be residents in the country of the institution they apply from. The north2north coordinators must send an e-mail to: studyabroad@yukonu.ca in order to nominate students. The deadline to submit nominations is February 18. The national Coordinator will send application instructions to applicants shortly after.

Inbound mobility to Canada

Students from Norway, Sweden, Finland or Kingdom of Denmark should contact the north2north institutional contact at their home institution for application instructions and procedures related to funding.
