Public Health is moving forward on the special issue related to ‘Extreme Epidemiology’ to be published in fall 2016, and the editors are in process of developing a list of potential authors and manuscripts until Sept 1, 2015. The focus is on epidemiology in extreme climates, including the Arctic and the tropics.

On August 11, latest edition of the Webometrics World Ranking of universities was published. NEFU improved its position, became better on 232 points and is now at 3232 position among world universities and 50th among Russian universities.

The 8th Northern Research Forum (NRF) Open Assembly will merge with the Trans Arctic Agenda and take place in Reykjavik, Iceland on 14-15 October 2015. The theme of 2015 is Engaging Cultural Heritage when Building Resilience. The NRF Open Assembly emphasizes open discussion and the participation of young researchers.

The UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Extractive Industries organizes a PhD course together with the Arctic Energy Summit in Fairbanks, Alaska in September 24-30, 2015. Applications are still accepted for the course.
