Université Laval hosts the INQ-UArctic Regional Centre for the Province of Québec via the Institut nordique du Québec. The Regional Centre will support UArctic's mission and strengthen UArctic's presence across the province and beyond, as well as operate for the benefit of UArctic members in the province of Québec in Canada, supporting their participation and engagement in UArctic.
The Regional Centre was established on June 7, 2025 in Inari, Sápmi, Finland, at the 2025 UArctic Assembly meeting.
Main objectives:
- Promoting the activities and values of UArctic, ULaval and INQ to their respective communities.
- Increasing the visibility of Northern and Arctic studies and research within the respective networks of the parties, by:
- Fostering and promoting unique and relevant educational opportunities for members and Northerners through academic collaboration and exchange.
- Building, sharing and applying knowledge through member contributions and collaborations in research and science, including indigenous and traditional knowledge.
- Collaborating on the organization of joint academic and scientific activities, such as courses, conferences, seminars, symposia or lectures, as well as joint cultural and educational initiative, in the areas of shared interests of all parties.
