Geographically, Mid Sweden University is located in the middle of Sweden, right at the heart of Northern Europe. It is a young university, but its roots go back more than 150 years. In 1842, the same year as the elementary school was established in Sweden, the decision was made to place a teachers’ education college in Härnösand, a former campus of Mid Sweden University.

Today, Mid Sweden University has two campuses, in Sundsvall and Östersund, and approximately 24000 students. Around 6000 students are campus students, evenly divided between the two campus cities, and the rest study via distance programmes.

Mid Sweden University is a vibrant place where you find the perfect mix of nature and city life. At the university's two campus locations, Sundsvall and Östersund, you will find a student experience beyond the ordinary. Our university is characterized by an informal and friendly atmosphere small class sizes, and close contact between students and teachers. Every year, students from all over the world come to study at Mid Sweden University. We have partnerships for student and staff exchange and offer courses for international students at both campuses.
